Quick Audio Troubleshooting

  • Check Microphone Permission: Go to your device Settings > Apps > Mimic Party > Permissions > Microphone and ensure it is set to "Allow only while using the app".
  • Audio Volume: Make sure your media volume is turned up and your phone is not in silent / Do Not Disturb mode when listening to reference sounds.
  • Headphones / Bluetooth: If using wireless earbuds, ensure your device's active audio input device is selected properly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Mimic Party request microphone permission?

The core mechanic of the game is recording your vocal imitation of a reference sound effect. The microphone is accessed exclusively while you are actively holding or tapping record during a game round. There is no background audio recording.

Are my voice recordings uploaded or shared publicly?

In the current test build (v0.1.0), all audio recordings remain 100% locally on your device in temporary app cache. In future multiplayer rounds, audio is shared strictly with the other players inside your private invite-only room for the duration of that game match, and automatically expires thereafter.

How do I join a room created by a friend?

Ask the host for their 5-character room code (e.g. MP7K3). On the game home screen, tap "Join Party", enter the code, and tap Join. You can also tap an invite link like https://mimicpartyapp.web.app/join/MP7K3 if shared directly with you.

How can I delete my data or reset the game?

You can instantly clear all local data by going to Android Settings > Apps > Mimic Party > Storage > Clear Storage / Clear Cache. For full data deletion details, see our Data Deletion page.
